The most common grades of samarium cobalt magnets are SmCo5 and Sm2Co17. SmCo5 magnets offer a maximum energy product of 18 MGOe, making them suitable for high-temperature applications up to 250 degree . They are also resistant to corrosion and have strong demagnetization resistance. Sm2Co17 magnets, on the other hand, offer a maximum energy product of 32 MGOe with excellent temperature stability up to 350 degree . They are the strongest permanent magnets available and are ideal for applications that require high magnetic strength.
